Lower cost was one of the reasons the Tribune editorial (Aug. 23, “Local decision preferable on Paso water district tax”) favored a local versus a state-run water district.
But why does it cost almost a million dollars of tax money? Does this local entity really need two full-time employees?
What will their daily duties and responsibilities be? What will their benefits be? Their salaries? Why not one? Can’t San Luis Obispo County find an office somewhere in their existing buildings? How big an office does this two-person staff need? What is the rent going for up here in North County?
Before we are asked to vote “yes” on yet another tax on us, shouldn’t we be given the specifics on how and where our money will be spent?
