Thank you for the article about the overuse of the Ogallala Aquifer (“An invisible water crisis,” July 31).
This has not been a secret, but mainstream media has been very slow to give it much attention.
This issue is not crucial because of any drought. Farmers pump 10 times more water out of the aquifer than is replaced in an average year.
This is serious.
As more of us become conscious of our overuse of resources, we can participate in multiple creative and diverse ways to use, conserve or abstain from using resources.
