I hope that those who have lost their homes to fire and those who live in fire-hazard areas take heed from the Laguna Beach Fire of 1993.
I remember seeing a single home that stood among ashes. That home was considered overbuilt but was built to be fireproof. More than 400 homes were lost in that fire. I only remember two surviving, and both had been fireproofed.
Those interested can visit http://www.cnpssd.org/fire/lagunafire1993.html for information on how those homes were constructed to be fireproof. This type of construction can most likely save everything you hold dear.
