Donald Trump’s surge to the front among the Republican presidential candidates has left me incredulous.
David Brooks did a masterful job explaining the reasons for this phenomenon in his article, “Donald Trump’s allure: Ego as ideology” (Commentary, Aug. 6).
In the past few months, a grocery chain, new to California, purchased a number of Albertsons stores, including the one in Arroyo Grande.
Its prices are higher, and customers are going elsewhere. Now, they have cut most, if not all, positions, including checkers, from full-time to part-time. No benefits.
Any wonder why people may be thinking, does anyone at the top making decisions care?
Trump says he does.
