We continue to be impressed with both candidates for San Luis Obispo County clerk-recorder, but as we said going into the primary, we believe that Tommy Gong is better prepared to succeed Julie Rodewald.
Gong has been assistant clerk-recorder for nearly 10 years, and in that time has dealt with a variety of issues. In addition to assisting with elections, he has been involved in budgeting in a down economy; upgrading technology; and he has regularly dealt with questions and concerns from the public.
We’ve found him to be highly professional, helpful and well informed, even under the most stressful of circumstances . And we believe his dedication to delivering election results quickly and accurately will serve the public well.
As we said previously, Deputy Clerk-Recorder Amanda King also has done an excellent job. She’s smart, dedicated, personable and we especially like her ideas for increasing voter registration.
Never miss a local story.
In the final analysis, though, we believe Gong’s experience as second-in-command gives him the edge.
The Tribune strongly endorses Tommy Gong for clerk-recorder.
