‘Spring is the time of year when kittens abound — cute, fluffy and curious. They’re nearly irresistible, which creates a challenge for our adult cats at the county shelter.

“It’s especially hard for shy cats such as Josh.

“Josh is a gorgeous 2-year-old neutered male orange tabby who is likely to hide in a corner of his kennel when people approach. It’s his well-kept secret that Josh is sweetly curious and, with a little patience and soft words, you can entice Josh to come forward for a visit.

“Once won over — which doesn’t take long — Josh warms up quickly and enjoys making friends.

“However, with more kittens coming into the shelter each day, it’s likely Josh may have fewer visitors who are willing to take the time to pull him out of his shell.

“Josh has been overlooked at the shelter for two months and would love to find that patient, loving person or family to make him a part of their life.

“Josh has all his shots and is microchipped.”

— Animal shelter volunteer Ellen Perryess

The Animal Services shelter is at 885 Oklahoma Ave., off Highway 1 west of San Luis Obispo.
