Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported the location of the "ask the candidates" forum; it'll be held at the Pismo Beach City Council Chambers. Also, the city of Pismo Beach is not a sponsor of the event.
Pismo Beach residents have two chances this month to meet the candidates running for mayoral and City Council seats in November.
The Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting an “ask the candidates” forum on Sept. 11.
The forum, moderated by the League of Women Voters of San Luis Obispo County, will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pismo Beach City Council Chambers, 760 Mattie Road. It will also be televised on Channel 20.
Four contenders are running for two council seats, including incumbents Mary Ann Reiss and Kris Vardas, as well as Sheila Blake, a retired airline supervisor, and Marcia Guthrie, a real estate agent.
Mayor Shelly Higginbotham is running for re-election against challenger Kevin Kreowski, a local business owner.
The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that works with local organizations to conduct candidate forums. For more information, call 782-4040 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition, a meet-and-greet event with some of the candidates will be held Sept. 27 in Shell Beach.
The event will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. at The Steaming Bean coffee shop at 1651 Shell Beach Road, according to organizer and Pismo Beach resident Don Morris.
Candidates invited to the event include Higginbotham, Kreowski, Reiss and Vardas.
