The Tribune�s annual award honors community leaders younger than 40 in the county

If you want to nominate someone for The Tribune�s Top 20 Under 40 competition, there�s less than a week left. The deadline is Wednesday.

The award, in its fifth year, honors 20 women and men younger than age 40 who have demonstrated leadership in their professions and communities.

To be eligible, nominees must live and work in San Luis Obispo County year-round and demonstrate a strong commitment to community service.

Candidates will be evaluated by a panel of judges from the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation.

Only one nomination per person will be accepted. Winners will be chosen in early December, and short biographies of each will be published in The Tribune.

Previous winners have represented a diverse group of young talent and have been involved in finance, law, health care, education, business, local government and nonprofit organizations.

Grant-seeking info now at libraries

The San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation has made Grant-Station, a grant research workstation, available at libraries in Atascadero, Cambria, Morro Bay, Nipomo, Los Osos, Arroyo Grande and San Luis Obispo.

GrantStation is an online funding resource that connects grant seekers with current, comprehensive information about grant makers such as state funding agencies and arts advocates that are actively accepting inquiries and proposals.

A report from the San Luis Obispo County Library system indicated that a growing number of callers were requesting information about grants, which placed increasing demands upon the reference staff.

GrantStation will make it possible for grant seekers to complete their own research, and libraries will offer online tutorials for training.
