County planners have postponed a decision on plans by State Parks to add some amenities to Harmony Headlands State Park.
The improvements proposed at the park entrance adjacent to Highway 1, about five miles north of Cayucos, include a 16-space parking lot, informational kiosk, interpretive signs, a fee collection tube and new safety railings on a bridge just inside the park.
The county Planning Department hearing officer was expected to approve the plans at a weekly hearing Friday, but consideration was put off until Dec. 4 to allow neighboring property owners time to discuss concerns regarding access.
State Parks is willing to modify plans as needed, according to Kerry Brown of the Planning Department.
The 784-acre park features a hiking trail to the coast and a bluff-top trail overlooking the ocean. The park is run under a cooperative agreement between State Parks and the Cayucos Land Conservancy.

Veterans and others interested in starting or expanding a business are invited to a veterans entrepreneurship conference Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 801 Grand Ave.
The free, multi-agency event intends to assist members of the veteran community as well as people in the community at-large who may be interested in starting or expanding a business, according to Milt Batson, veterans workforce specialist with the Employment Development Department.
Veterans and others may choose to look at starting a small business as they consider a career change, Batson wrote in a news release.
Statistics show that about one in four veterans pick self-employment as their career option, he wrote.
A general session will introduce members of each participating organization and the services that they have to assist veterans and/or small business.
The workshops that follow will include: access to capital; so you want to be an entrepreneur; how to contract with the government; and franchise opportunities. Time will be set aside for networking with the resource partners.

Cal Poly Architecture student Sarah Jester was recognized for excellence in digital design recently at the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture conference in Chicago, university officials said.
Jester’s recognized project, “Inhabitable Book Library for San Francisco,” was undertaken in third-year design studio with Cal Poly Architecture Professor Thomas Fowler.
AutoDesSys, the company that developed the award-winning Form Z digital modeling software, organized the 17th annual awards banquet.
Nominated projects are presented to a distinguished jury comprising five individuals outside of AutoDesSys, all experts or theorists of computer aided design.
Jurors are tasked with selecting the award winners in a setting that does not disclose names of the nominees or school affiliations in the following categories: Architectural Design, Interior Design, Fabrication, Visualization/Illustration and Animation.
