San Luis Obispo

Police are seeking more information about a stabbing that took place in San Luis Obispo Friday evening.

Trenidad Castilleja Jr., 31, reportedly was seen bleeding from his back after he walked into a gas station in the 200 block of Santa Rosa Street shortly before 10 p.m.

San Luis Obispo Police arrived to find him standing in front of the business with a stab wound in his lower back.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where he was admitted.

Investigators were trying to determine what led up to the attack on Castilleja and where it occurred. Anyone with information is asked to call the police at 781-7317.

Atascadero

Candidates for the Democratic nomination for the 33rd state Assembly District will mingle and answer questions at an Atascadero Democratic Club barbecue on Thursday.

Candidates expected include Santa Maria City Councilwoman Hilda Zacarias, Grover Beach Mayor John Shoals and Robert Cuthbert, who has run twice for the position.

Incumbent Sam Blakeslee, a Republican serving as minority leader, is vacating the seat after next year’s election because of term limits.

The barbecue will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Atascadero Lake Park.

The club will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken. It is asking participants to bring salads, appetizers, desserts or drinks for eight people.

The Atascadero Democratic Club meets the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at the AARP building at Atascadero Lake Park, bordering the Atascadero Lake Park Pavilion parking lot. The club says there are always fresh coffee, dessert, and lots of opinions being served.

North Coast

A proposal to adjust boundaries on four coastal parcels from just north of Old San Simeon Village to Ragged Point is expected to be reviewed by county supervisors at their meeting Tuesday.

The lot-line changes on property covered by the Hearst Ranch Conservation Plan were reviewed and approved by the county Subdivision Review Board. The plan, adopted in 2005, conserves most of the Hearst Ranch.

Sierra Club’s Santa Lucia Chapter and LandWatch San Luis Obispo County say county planners should have reviewed the project under the county’s Local Coastal Plan rather than the ranch’s conservation plan and that the realignment would create a developable lot where there isn’t one now. The two groups appealed county staff’s approval of the request to the supervisors.

One of the four lot-line adjustments would expand a lot of less than an fifth of an acre adjacent to historic Sebastian’s Store to more than 96 acres.

Tickets are required but are available free of charge Monday through July 29 from downtown merchants with window signs that read, “Free pancake breakfast tickets here.”
