Comments (0) | Triple-digit temperatures are expected to hit the North County and inland valleys this weekend and stick around through the month.
The National Weather Service and John Lindsey, forecaster at Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, say temperatures in the county will be unseasonably warm even for July.
Coastal valleys will see temperatures in the high 70s and low 80s, with many inland areas surpassing the 100-degree mark. Temperatures at most of the beaches will remain in the 60s, however.
The high pressure area over the county responsible for the high temperatures will break down somewhat at the end of the week, bringing cooler temperatures and a more pronounced marine layer of fog at the beaches. However, hot temperatures will return next week just in time for the Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, which begins July 22.
Triple-digit temperatures are unusual in San Luis Obispo County in July. The average maximum temperature for this month in San Luis Obispo is about 78 degrees and about 94 degrees in Paso Robles, according to Lindsey.
