Paso Robles’ Culinary Academy celebrated graduation Thursday with one last assignment—preparation of an elaborate menu for guests of the graduates.

The academy, which has been training high school students for careers in the food and hospitality industry for 10 years, has eight graduates this year.

They are: Vincent Bowery, Marcel Acebo, Clark Rountree, Kalon Benton, Tiara Sterrett, Colman Stout, Eli Mena and Hollis Brown.

Several of the graduates plan to attend culinary college.

The curriculum, a condensed version of programs offered at top U. S. culinary schools for older students, includes instruction in sanitation, nutrition, cooking and bookkeeping. A catering program and Academy Café are apart of the experience.

Executive head chef Phillip Riccomini told graduation guests that the program has become a model for other schools around the state.
