To make it easier readers to share your suggestions, you’re encouraged to stop by between 2 and 3 p.m. the first Friday of the month — this month, that’s Friday, Nov. 6 — for “Front Porch Friday.” I’ll be on the front porch to hear your ideas and talk about how The
Cambrian can better serve the community.
This month, it’s also an opportunity to bring to our attention Cambria candidates for The Tribune’s annual “Unsung Heroes” features. As Thanksgiving approaches, we think it’s especially appropriate to honor those who use their energy and skills to help others.
But we need your help. We’re looking for residents of San Luis Obispo County who go out of their way to help others — through
volunteer service or by rising to the occasion in an emergency, for example — and who seek nothing material in return. Such individuals rarely receive widespread attention. They’re simply pleased with the satisfaction that comes from doing such good deeds.
If you know someone who fits this description — a friend, neighbor, teacher or committed volunteer — please let us know. You can e-mail us at cambrian@thetribune news.com or letters@thetrib unenews.com (with the subject Unsung Heroes). Explain why you believe your nominee is an Unsung Hero and let us know how to reach you. Or come by Friday! — Bert Etling
