San Luis Obispo's City Council adopted a resolution for joint use of Salinas River water with the U.S. government.
The agreement gave the city first right of refusal should the Army decide the dam was no longer necessary. The contract would be effective Jan. 1, 1944, and renewed automatically. The city would have to give 30 days' notice to terminate the agreement.
The SLO County Housing Authority was authorized to to build dorms for Southern Pacific workers near Islay and Osgood streets.
Radio station KVEC was off the air for a day due to lightning damage from two months earlier. A cracked crystal forced the station off the air for the first time since it was established six years earlier. Parts were brought from San Francisco and the station signed on at the usual 7 am.
