The Paso Robles Police Department said Wednesday that a suspect in a May 26 armed robbery of a 99 Cent store in Atascadero is now suspected in a similar robbery the previous night at Chico’s Café in Paso Robles after detectives served search warrants at several homes.
Kyle Jamesryan Kitchin, 25, of Paso Robles, was arrested May 27 on suspicion of attempted robbery after being found near a recently robbed 99 Cent store in the 7100 block of El Camino Real in Atascadero.
No one was injured in either robbery, but Atascadero police said Kitchin was in possession of a loaded handgun when arrested.
Paso Robles police said in a news release Wednesday that they served several search warrants at various homes where Kitchin is known to live and found evidence related to the Chico’s Café robbery, though a spokesman for the department did not immediately respond for further details.
Police are now asking the District Attorney’s Office to file additional charges against Kitchin, including robbery, kidnapping and disabling a phone to prevent a 911 call.
Kitchin remained in San Luis Obispo County Jail on Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $140,000 bail. He has not yet entered a plea in San Luis Obispo Superior Court.
