A man was arrested in San Luis Obispo early Thursday after allegedly stabbing a fellow transient in the abdomen.
Officers were called to the intersection of Broad Street and Industrial Way at 1:09 a.m. in response to a stabbing that had just occurred, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department. Officers arrived and found a 61-year-old man with a puncture wound to his abdomen.
According to the victim and a witness, the attack was unprovoked and came without warning. The victim and suspect reportedly knew each other, but were not together before the stabbing. The victim and witness provided police with a name and description of the attacker, and said he ran away before police arrived.
Officers found Daniel Allen, a 43-year-old transient, a short time later at Edna Valley Shell station at Broad Street and Tank Farm Road. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and taken to County Jail, where bail was set at $25,000.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where he was admitted for treatment.
