An Atascadero man allegedly vandalized a county sheriff’s station in Templeton and then jumped off the roof in a failed attempt to evade deputies on Saturday afternoon.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office received a call at about 1:10 p.m. of a disturbance at its North Patrol Station on North Main Street in Templeton that involved the suspect and his family, according to a news release.
The suspect, Juan Josue Salgado, 20, then allegedly broke a station window, climbed onto the roof of the building and began vandalizing roof-mounted equipment and ventilation, according to the release.
When he refused deputies’ orders to come down, a CHP helicopter, CHP ground units and a Sheriff’s canine assisted while deputies confronted Salgado on the rooftop. Salgado jumped to the ground, where he was taken into custody by authorities.
