Another phone scam has surfaced in San Luis Obispo County.
A caller, claiming to be from the county Sheriff’s Office, has repeatedly phoned residents to warn that a warrant is out for their arrest because of their failure to appear for jury duty.
The caller demanded a payment of $1,000 via prepaid debit card or wire transfer in order to clear the fabricated warrant.
According to a county Sheriff’s Office news release, such phone calls are unrelated to the department.
