Paso Robles officials are warning residents not to fall victim to a scam involving curb painters posing as city employees.
According to a Paso Robles Police Department news release, subjects have been reported going door to door claiming to be city employees painting address numbers on sidewalk curbs for a fee.
The Police Department said Friday that some of the painters have business licenses in the city, but are in no way affiliated with or working for the city.
Police are advising that if any resident has their curb painted without asking for it, the resident does not have to pay. They additionally advise that the curb is inspected to make sure the correct address is still listed.

Anyone who observes an unauthorized paint crew operating in a neighborhood or is harassed for payment of an unsolicited paint job is asked to contact the Paso Robles Police Department at 237-6464.
