One month after a Nipomo man was fatally attacked with a knife in Oceano, the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information about who may have killed him.
Joseph Luis Padilla, 25, received life-threatening injuries during a fight that occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. June 21 on the 1300 block of 19th Street and later died at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
After a car chase through Santa Maria that reached speeds of 70 mph, police detained and questioned 35-year-old Oceano resident Joseph Munoz, a person of interest in Padilla's death.
Munoz was also wanted for violating the terms of his parole for narcotics involvement, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Authorities are now trying to determine who else may have been present or participated in the fight, sheriff's spokesman Tony Cipolla told The Tribune.
The Sheriff’s Office is encouraging people with information who wish to remain anonymous to call Crime Stoppers’ 24-hour hotline at (805) 549-STOP or to text “SLOTIPS” plus your message to CRIMES (274637).
