A man crashed into a teenage girl’s car in an attempt to kidnap her Thursday in See Canyon, then led deputies on a short vehicle chase before being arrested, according to authorities.
Brett Allen Edgell, 26, of Minneapolis was driving an SUV he allegedly stole in Las Vegas when he attempted to kidnap the 17-year-old girl around 10:35 p.m. on the 1800 block of Pippin Lane, according to Tony Cipolla, spokesman for the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.
Edgell rammed the victim’s car and approached her several times trying to get her into his car. The victim escaped and locked herself inside her home, Cipolla said.
After the incident was reported by the victim’s father, deputies located Edgell, who led them on a short pursuit. The chase ended when Edgell tried to drive the SUV into sheriff’s patrol cruisers and got stuck.

Edgell struggled with law enforcement officials, and the arresting deputy and Edgell both received minor injuries.
Edgell was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, felony auto theft, attempting to evade a peace officer in a reckless manner and resisting arrest, Cipolla said.
The incident is still under investigation, and it's not yet known whether Edgell knew the victim previously, Cipolla said.
