A 43-year-old transient was arrested in Oceano on Wednesday after he allegedly broke into his girlfriend's home and assaulted her — and was stabbed in the process.
Around 4:50 a.m., deputies were called to a home in the 300 block of McCarthy Avenue for a reported stabbing, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.
Donald Ralph Juarez allegedly had broken into the home of his girlfriend and assaulted her. When the woman cried for help, 20-year-old Cody Alexander Jackson of Grover Beach, who was also in the house, stabbed Juarez with a hunting knife, authorities said.
Deputies arrived at the scene to find Juarez in the driveway with the knife stuck in the right side of his body.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Juarez had first gone to his girlfriend's home Tuesday after he was released from County Jail, where he had been held on probation violations. He found Jackson at the home, and the two men got into an argument. Juarez left, then returned to the home around 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, which is when he forced his way inside and was stabbed by Jackson.
Juarez was treated at a local hospital for wounds that were not life threatening, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He was then arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, domestic violence, stalking and trespassing, and booked into County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
