A Thousand Oaks man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend and kidnapping her from her home in Atascadero.
At 7:48 a.m. a physical altercation was reported at a home in the 5400 block of Olmeda Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, a man reported that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend had forced his way into the house early Tuesday morning and assaulted him, according to Atascadero police.
The ex-boyfriend — identified as Craig Sterling, 42 — then forced the woman from her home and held her against her will at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, police said.
Police found Sterling and the female victim at the hotel after hotel staff alerted local authorities that something seemed wrong.
Sterling was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, domestic violence, burglary and battery. He was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. He has since posted bail and is no longer in custody.
