Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. Bye-bye birdie9:20 a.m. April 29, 1800 block of Westfield Road in Paso Robles
A man staying at a home brought his bird with him, which then bit the homeowner’s daughter.
Zero tolerance2:07 p.m. April 29, 800 Clubhouse Drive in Paso Robles
A person caught two kids drawing on the pavilion with chalk. The chalk could be cleaned, but the person wanted the kids prosecuted for trespassing. The kids cleaned up the chalk, and officers counseled the youth and spoke to their parents.
North Pole dreaming3:18 p.m. April 29, 1100 Spring St. in Paso Robles
A man was lying in Santa’s House at City Park. Officers talked with the man, who said he was resting from the heat and would move on.
Searching for the searchers7:12 p.m. April 30, 200 block of Veronica Drive in Paso Robles
Two 7-year-olds out looking for their dogs disappeared for 15-20 minutes. The dogs returned, but an adult couldn’t find the children. The adult called back a few minutes later to say the kids were playing at a nearby elementary school.
Suspicious business5:43 p.m. May 1, 600 Nickerson Drive in Paso Robles
Three men and a woman in their 30s near the restrooms at Centennial Park told staff they were undercover police officers and had a male juvenile in the restroom detained in handcuffs. Officers talked with the group, who were indeed probation officers conducting a urine test at the restroom.
Stolen scrap1:03 p.m. May 3, 841 13th St. in Paso Robles
A sink was stolen from in front of arestaurant the night before. The restaurant owners approached the suspects, but there was confusion and the suspects left with the sink before it could be sorted out. The sink was described as a scrap sink that was to be recycled.
Just dessert1:32 p.m. May 3, 2000 block of Spring Street in Paso Robles
A citizen said he saw a man hide something in the bushes next to his house. Officers checked and found a melted chocolate cake from Vons in the bushes.
Food coma1:42 p.m. May 3, 1310 24th St. in Paso Robles
A man had breakfast at Denny’s, then went outside and passed out in front of the restaurant. He had been there for two hours. Officers checked with the man, who was a German tourist who was tired.
Unsafe driving12:28 p.m. May 8, 836 Pacific St. in San Luis Obispo
A citizen called 911 to report someone driving 30 mph in a parking lot.
Just FYI12:50 p.m. May 8, 1200 block of Laguna Lane in San Luis Obispo
A 911 caller said there was no emergency and then hung up the phone.
Watch your feet5:43 a.m. May 9, 894 Meinecke Ave. in San Luis Obispo
A man sitting near the fire hydrant on a curb had his feet in the street.
