Man accused of murdering mother hadn't been violent, relatives testify

The District Attorney’s Office will argue that Christopher Shumey, 36, knew what he was doing when he shot his mother, Karen Shumey, two times with a 12-gauge shotgun in 2011. But defense attorney Pierre Blahnik will point to Shumey’s history of mental illness.
