Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. Prank overboard10:23 a.m. Jan. 6, 1600 block of Bella Vista Court
A resident said their house had been toilet papered, garden rocks were moved, and the vehicles were urinated on.
Fascinating find8:37 p.m. Jan. 6, Union Road
There was an injured possum in the roadway, and it was a traffic hazard because motorists were stopping to look at it.
Grill ’em3:17 p.m. Jan. 8, 1502 Park St.
A man was selling steaks out of his truck. A resident was concerned he didn’t have a permit. Officers confirmed he did not and advised him to go to City Hall to get one.
Cat fights3:55 p.m. Jan. 9, 700 block of 23rd Street
A resident said he adopted two cats from a rescue group and one of the involved parties was harassing him. He said someone else gave him a third cat, and now that person was calling him.
Dog whisperer needed8:54 a.m. Jan. 10, 1800 block of Driftwood Court
A woman said an aggressive dog had her trapped in her car. An officer was able to get the dog into his car but was not sure whether he could get him out. Animal Services was notified.
Easy pickings10:04 a.m. Jan. 11, 800 block of Walnut Drive
A wallet, credit cards, glasses and a phone were stolen from a garage that was open overnight.
Sharp eye2:22 p.m., Jan. 11, 1700 Locust Street
A second-grader told school officials she saw two men walking down the street, and one man had a gun. An officer said it checked out OK, as the man was a construction worker and had a nail gun.
Bump in the road6:16 p.m. Jan. 11, 24th Street
A dead deer in the road was being repeatedly run over.
Road rage lesson8:59 a.m. Jan. 12, Creston Road
A driving school instructor said a man in a truck behind them apparently did not think they were going fast enough and purposely hit the back of their vehicle. The man then refused to exchange information.
