Each day, dispatchers from the seven police departments in San Luis Obispo County take dozens of calls from residents seeking help for issues ranging from minor disputes to serious crimes. Happy 2013!12 a.m. Jan. 1, multiple locations
Several people called police to report hearing or seeing firecrackers.
Smelly visitor3:24 p.m. Jan. 1, 9000 block of San Rafael Road
A rabid skunk was reportedly in the area. Officers found the animal, which was determined not to be a hazard nor a nuisance.
Surprising find4:35 p.m. Jan. 1, 9333 Bocina Lane
A woman reported finding a dog and other items in her car. The woman called back a few minutes later to say she found the owner, who thought he had put the dog and other items in his friend’s vehicle.
Fetishists on display3:36 p.m. Jan. 2, 9315 Pismo Ave.
A man wearing a mask with a chain attached to it had the chain wrapped around another man’s face and was leading him around by it. Officers checked the area, but were unable to find the men.

Kids were throwing rocks at some geese.
Mail tampering6:20 p.m. Jan. 4, 10000 block of Morro Road
A resident said a neighbor walked down the driveway and put his hand in the resident’s mailbox.
It’s still illegal6:24 p.m. Jan. 4, 7135 El Camino Real
Three people were seen smoking marijuana on a bench near Vons. Officers arrested a woman for possession of paraphernalia.
