A parolee wanted by state officials fled in a vehicle when approached by Paso Robles police on Wednesday, running several stop signs and red lights in the process.
According to a news release from Paso Robles police Capt. Robert Burton, the parolee, Gabriel Garcia, was first seen near the intersection of Capitol Hill and Creston Road around 3:30 p.m.
As officers arrived, the 40-year-old man drove east on Creston Road. Pursuing officers tried to stop him, but he did not yield to police lights and sirens.
Soon after, his vehicle became disabled near the entrance to the Spanish Lakes development, and Garcia tried to run from the scene. He was caught by officers and taken into custody for his parole warrant, and will likely face charges of having illegal narcotics and evading arrest, Burton said.
