The officers were checking a site to the rear of the El Toro Motel in the 600 block of Toro Street near Highway 101 at 2:15 p.m. when they saw two men run away, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
The officers chased and caught the men, later identified as Ryan Kenlon and Robert Williams, according to the news release.
Kenlon, a 33-year-old Santa Maria resident, was found to be on parole for assault with a deadly weapon and was considered a parolee-at-large, according to police.
Williams, a 46-year-old Paso Robles resident, is on probation for resisting or obstructing a public officials by means of threats or threats of violence and was wanted for a probation violation, according to police.
Both are also suspected of resisting arrest, and are being held at County Jail without bail.
The campsite the officers were checking on was the same place police had found stolen items two days previously and arrested a man on suspicion of auto theft.
