Fourteen people were arrested Thursday evening on probation violations and warrants — and five of them were associated with criminal street gangs, the Sheriff’s Department said Friday.
The sweep was conducted in the North County by 40 officers associated with eight law enforcement agencies.
Sheriff’s Commander Brian Hascall said the check was part of periodic sweeps authorities conduct to determine if probation terms are being followed and noted a similar operation in South County a few months ago.
Those arrested Thursday are Kevin Willbanks, 36; Jose Espinoza-Quintero Amilcar, 20, Geoffrey Ford, 23, Kaitlyn Jones, 25; Jeffrey Leazer, 18; Thomas Gibson, 65; Alex Lopez, 19; Robert Kortje, 18; Kyle O’Keefe, 18; Robert White, 43; Ronald Isabel, 31.

The names of three suspects weren’t released because they’re under 18 years old.
The department didn’t say which of the five were associated with criminal street gangs or the names of the gangs involved. The search took place from 6 p.m. to midnight.
