Two Arroyo Grande men were arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of receiving stolen property and violating parole after an alert neighbor heard prowling in her neighborhood and called 911.
According to Commander John Hough, Arroyo Grande police officers responded to the 700 block of Dodson Way around 5 a.m. after “repeated 911 hang-up telephone calls.” The caller said a prowler was attempting to enter vehicles.
Officers found 24-year-old Timothy Chad Spears standing on the side of the road between parked cars. Officers determined that Spears is on parole and had electronic equipment including a cellphone and an iPod in his pockets.
Hough said a further investigation of the area turned up a box containing components of a car stereo system. They also found CDs, jumper cables, tools, auto stereo equipment, cellular telephones and a small amount of cash behind bushes in the area.
During their search, several residents told officers a man was on the roof of a nearby house. Following a chase, 32-year-old Theodore Clayton Lang, a parolee, was located in a backyard and taken into custody without further incident.
Both Spears and Lang were booked into County Jail without bail.
