A burglary victim in rural San Luis Obispo who saw what he believed to be his stolen property being sold on Craigslist worked with sheriff’s detectives to set up a sting Friday near a San Luis Obispo motel.
As a result, two men were arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property: Jose Arnoldo Cantu, 32, of Atascadero and John Dean Stafford, 47, of Arroyo Grande. Both were being booked into County Jail.
Detectives said they recovered some of the stolen goods.
The department said the alleged victim, whom they did not name, reported that guns, a camera and assorted power tools were taken Thursday while he was at work.
When he told detectives he had seen his property on Craigslist, they arranged to meet the seller to purchase the items near a motel on Calle Joaquin.
The investigation is continuing into recovery of more property.
