A Salinas man has pleaded no contest to hitting a sheriff’s deputy with a truck at Nacimiento Lake in May 2010.
Michael Garrett Youngblood entered his plea agreement today to the charge of aggravated assault on a police officer in Judge John Trice’s courtroom. He has agreed to a tentative prison sentence of nine years.
Youngblood hit Deputy Nate Paul on May 28, 2010, as Paul and other deputies were responding to a reported altercation at the lake.
Paul fired a shot at Youngblood during the incident, authorities said, but nobody was hit. The deputy suffered a compound leg fracture that required surgery.
Youngblood is scheduled to be sentenced July 5.
