A 19-year-old Santa Maria man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a 21-year-old San Luis Obispo man early Sunday.
Cole Sterling Milton is accused of stabbing Justin Hirsch near Nipomo and High streets in San Luis Obispo around 2:40 a.m.
Hirsch’s wounds were life-threatening, San Luis Obispo police said, but he survived after treatment by San Luis Obispo Fire Department paramedics and at a local hospital.
On Thursday, San Luis Obispo police and the Santa Maria Police Department served a warrant for Milton’s arrest in Santa Maria, and Milton was arrested without incident. He's currently in County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
Though San Luis Obispo police initially said they were seeking two people in connection with the stabbing, Lt. Keith Storton said Thursday that Milton is the only suspect. But police are still looking for additional witnesses. Anyone with information should call San Luis Obispo police at 781-7317 or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
