A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly pointing a handgun at people at a house party and then threatening a roommate who confronted him.
Several people called 911 at approximately 11:08 p.m. from a house at 1503 Oceanaire Drive, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department. The callers said they were at a house party and a man was pointing a gun at them.
When officers arrived, they spoke with one of the victims who said the suspect - later identified as Jason Kevin Hansen - was extremely intoxicated and passed out in the living room.
After investigating, officers determined that Hansen's roommate was hosting a small party. During the party, Hansen allegedly became very intoxicated and agitated with several guests.
At one point during an argument, Hansen went to his room and got a .38 revolver handgun, according to police. Hansen then allegedly pointed the gun in a threatening manner at several people attending the party.
When confronted by one of his roommates, Hansen allegedly ordered the man to go to his bedroom. Once in the bedroom, Hansen allegedly pointed the gun at the roommate's throat and told him he was going to die. The roommate was able to convince Hansen to put down the gun, officers said, at which time he left the house and called police.
Officers were able to find the handgun used during the incident and arrested Hansen without further incident.
Hansen, 24, was booked into County Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and possession of a firearm. Bail was set at $50,000.
