A Los Osos man apparently killed himself Friday night after allegedly attacking his roommate with an ax after she had recently told him to move out, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were called to a fight at a home in the 400 block of Woodland Drive around 8:30 p.m., according to a news release.
When deputies arrived, they found a 58-year old woman who told them her roommate had attacked her with an ax. She was able to escape the home, although injured, and ran to a neighbor's house for help. The woman was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she was still being treated for multiple injuries on Saturday, sheriff's officials said.
Deputies also discovered the man, 25-year-old Kelly Neal Turpin, in the backyard dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators said that during the incident, shots were heard coming from where the alleged assault took place.
The investigation is continuing, the Sheriff’s Office said.
