The Cambria Tennis Club reached out to young people during its “Big Chill” clinic and fundraiser Saturday, Jan. 17, on the Coast Union High School tennis courts. About 16 youths (and some parents) attended the clinic and took a crack at learning the game.
“It was really exiting to have that handful of kids, and to see a splattering of kids all over the court,” said Gail McBride, who serves as the social director on the club’s board of directors. “The kids that showed up were just darling, really nice people.
“We really need some new blood in the tennis world here in Cambria. Everybody’s gotten so old, and they have bad knees and bad backs. The clinic was designed to interest more young people and younger parents to play.”
