The odds were stacked against the Coast Union softball team in the first round of the CIF playoffs Thursday, May 18. After winning the Coast Valley League (8-0), the Lady Broncos were entitled to a home playoff game at Scott Rock Park, and they got that game.
Despite forfeiting three points at the outset of the match because of the absence of a Coast Union doubles team, the Broncos defeated the Paso Robles junior varsity tennis team at home by a 12-6 score.

Coming into this week, the Coast Union High School baseball team had not played a game since April 6, a lopsided win (13-3) over Maricopa High School at Coast Union. And last week was spring break, which meant only a handful of baseball players were available to practice.
