The Pewter Plough Playhouse presents a special Readers’ Theatre presentation of “The Government Inspector,” a farce on human vanity and political corruption known as a classic comedy, on Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18. Written by Nikolai Gogol and originally published in 1836 in Czarist Russia, the scathing satire was outrageously critical of the Russian government — and governments everywhere.
The cast features Donald Dallmann, Wayne Evans, Jerry McKinnon, Konner Riley, Blake Spiller, Sasha Tselikova, Niki Young, Jeff Walters, Marsha Walters and Kasady Riley, who also directs.
Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m. A donation of $7 for general admission goes to the Pewter Plough Playhouse Scholarship Fund.
Dave Manion plays the piano in the wine bar lounge during intermission and after the show.
The theater is at 824 Main St.
