A film with local ties, especially musical ones, is to show at The Palm Theatre in San Luis Obispo Friday, Nov. 2 through 8, after premiering at the Lincoln Center in New York.
“Trade of Innocents: Justice Needs a Hero” is a 91-minute message drama about the child-sex trade in Southeast Asia. It stars Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino and Dermot Mulroney.

The film’s showings at The Palm (www.thepalmtheatre.com) are to run from 1 to 10 p.m. daily at 817 Palm St., between Chorro and Morro streets in San Luis Obispo.
A question-and-answer panel with Tim Hosman and film producer Jim Schmidt is planned after the 7 p.m. showing Saturday, Nov. 3. For details, call 541-5161
A film synopsis reads: “A captivating and moving film … an incredible story that brings awareness to the world. A couple grieving the loss of their own daughter set out to rescue young girls sold into the prostitution slave trade in Southeast Asia.”
In California, the film’s also scheduled to show at Pepperdine University on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 19.
Hosman and wife Casey, a Cambria Realtor, attended the New York premiere.
