Seventeen Cambria artists will take part in ARTS Obispo’s 17th annual Open Studios Art Tour on consecutive weekends: Oct. 11 to 12 and Oct. 17 to 18.
The countywide event will feature 219 artists in all. Artists will display their work, and many will provide demonstrations of their creative techniques.
“Cambria is an artists colony,” said Mary C. Barnhill, who is serving as the Cambria-area captain for event’s planning team. “We have more than doubled our participating artists since last year.”
Barnhill said participating Cambria artists are working to coordinate their efforts, provide easy access to studious and engaging presentations. Some artists who work using complementary media will share exhibit space.
Painted works in oil, acrylic and watercolor will be included in the tour in styles ranging from traditional to impressionist and abstract. Ceramic artists will also display their works, along with woodcarvers, mosaic artists, folk artists and mixed-media specialists. Artists are working to create tie-ins with the Cambria Scarecrow Festival and provide guides to the featured studios.
Cambria artists set to participate include Patti Griffin, Holly McCain, Mary Barnhill, Stephen Kellogg, Tish Rogers, Rosemary Piscotta, Shigeko Kojima, Carolyn Edis, Penny Fitzgerald, Shirley Kirkes Mar, Earth Sea Pottery, Stephanie Arehart, Judy Maynard, Dancing Dog, Suzette Morrow, Franz Affentranger and Jeanette Wolff.
