The Pewter Plough Playhouse will present its production of “Steel Magnolias,” under the direction of Kelly Howard, beginning with a preview night performance Friday, Aug. 21.
Robert Harling’s classic comedy-drama focuses on six Louisiana women who share their lives, joys and sorrows every week at Truvy’s Beauty Salon. Harling based the script on the lives of his mother and sister, and the stories he heard about their best friends during his childhood.
The play features Janine Elich, Sharee Hallmann, Janice Peters, Christina Fountain, Cika P. Cook and Beth Marshall.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. preview performance are $17. A Gala Champagne Opening is set for the same time Saturday, Aug. 22; the $30 admission price includes an after-show party with champagne, dessert and music by pianist/vocalist Dave Manion.
Never miss a local story.
Performances will continue at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 3 p.m. Sundays through Sept. 20. Dates are Aug. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30, and Sept. 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20.
Tickets for regular performances are $22 for regular admission and $17 for students with ID. Group reservations receive a 10 percent discount if paid with a single payment in advance.
