The Coast Unified School District will begin advertising for a trustee to fill the seat vacated by Lesli Murdoch, Superintendent Vicki Schumacher said in an email to The Cambrian.
“Presently, we are working with the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education to clarify the process for provisional appointment by other board members of a replacement board member,” Schumacher wrote.
Schumacher said Murdoch “stepped down for personal reasons.”
Contacted by The Cambrian, Murdoch declined to comment on her reasons for resigning, other than to say there was “nothing the board or district has done or said to aid this decision — only my personal reasons.”
Never miss a local story.
Murdoch’s resignation was announced at the April 16 school board meeting, when Schumacher thanked her for her service to the district.
Murdoch won election to the board in November on a close vote, beating Michael Foster of Cayucos for the seat. She tallied 146 votes more than Foster, winning 28 percent to his 26 percent. She had served as “lunch lady” for the district for 13 years before retiring.
