One-way traffic control will be in effect for Highway 1 traffic near Gorda and the Big Sur area from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29. If weather conditions are good, Caltrans contractor Madonna Construction will coordinate its ongoing culvert-repair work with related helicopter operations at that time.
Access to Highway 1 businesses will remain open.
The affected area in Monterey County stretches from Ventana/Post Ranch to Alder Creek Bridge.
Flaggers will direct one-way traffic-control procedures. Delays are expected to be 30 minutes or less during the one-day effort, which is part of a $1 million overall project to repair damaged culverts and place rock nets on the hillside to protect motorists and the road itself from future slide activity. Caltrans expects work to be finished by spring, weather permitting.
Never miss a local story.
