Nobody was frying eggs on the sidewalk in Cambria Oct. 8-11, but in some areas of the North Coast, it sure felt as if the odd technique might have worked.
Weather Underground reported highs on London Lane of 95 to 97 degrees from Thursday to Sunday. And Thursday through Saturday, the highs were at least 100 degrees five miles up San Simeon Creek Road, according to Bill and Shirley Bianchi. Cambria’s wastewater-treatment plant on Park Hill reported lower readings of 82, 84, 84 and 78, respectively for Thursday through Sunday.
The high-pressure ridge that had caused the autumn heat wave began to break down Monday, and the weather began to cool.
