Just in time to help reduce fire risk during wildfire season, Cambrians who sign up in advance can get free “chipping” services for brush, small branches and other cut, combustible vegetation.
Chipping will be available Sept. 29 and 30, courtesy of the Cambria Fire Department and the county’s Firesafe Council. The service is available for developed lots, unless a property owner also owns an adjacent, undeveloped parcel.
Materials to be chipped — less than 5 inches in diameter and no longer than 7 feet — must be clearly identified and piled at curbside. Get red flagging tape at the fire station, 2850 Burton Drive.
Get information and signup sheets online at www.cambriacsd.org, or at the fire station and Cambria Community Services District administrative offices at 1316 Tamsen St., Suite 201. Participants must return the completed sign-up sheets no later than 5 p.m. Sept. 26 at the fire station or CSD office.
Never miss a local story.
The California Conservation Corps will do all the chipping, in cooperation with Cambria Fire and the Cambria Community Emergency Response Team. All material will be chipped back onto the property from which it was taken.
