There is still time for Cambria parents to enroll their children who will be in fourth through eighth grades this fall in a free summer camp sponsored by the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office. The Gang Resistance Education and Training camp will be held at Cayucos Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 24 through 28.
Food and transportation are provided, according to Deputy Susie Corriea. This is a violence prevention program led by trained law enforcement officers. The emphasis is on teaching skills to young people to help them avoid participation in bullying, violence and gangs.
Activities include games, exercises, decision-making and Internet safety. There will be raffles with prizes for participants and door prizes provided by Cambria businesses.
