North Coast residents are to honor tonight, May 17, some who are serving the community well at Coast Unified School District, including Lay Citizen of the Year Chris Gutierrez, Classified Employee of the Year Suzanne Kennedy and Teacher of the Year Toby Cinque.
Retirees Marge Goodale, Cookie Henslin, Karen Howard, Mark Kniffen and Sandra Paolini also are to be honored at the district Board of Trustees’ meeting that starts at 7 p.m. at the Old Cambria Grammar School, 1350 Main St.
According to the board’s agenda, available at www.coastusd.org, among other items to be reviewed or considered by trustees are: California School Employees Association initial proposal for 2012-13 collective bargaining negotiations; YMCA summer program for June 4 through Aug. 16; public hearing on district’s Internet safety policy; resolution to maintain Community Day School; public hearing for proposed uses of state Categorical Funds; and a three-year contract with an auditing firm.
During a closed session set for 5:30 p.m. in the district office, trustees also are to consider expelling a student. Trustees also are to discuss two ongoing lawsuits, one in which the district is suing RRM Design Group and Kyle Harris and the other in which Nikolaus Kopp is suing the district.
