The annual Pier-to-Point fundraiser for the North Coast Ocean Rescue Team starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at San Simeon Pier and ends six miles south at Leffingwell Landing. Registration starts at 8 a.m.
In the event, participants can paddle on kayaks, paddleboards, stand-up paddleboards and outrigger canoes.
Each participant’s $40 donation helps support NCOR, and goes toward buying equipment for the volunteer ocean-water rescue team.
The event concludes with a barbecue lunch and handing out of T-shirts. Transportation is provided back to participants’ vehicles, and volunteer security personnel will guard the equipment until paddlers return to pick it up.
Never miss a local story.
NCOR is celebrating its 22nd anniversary this year. The all-volunteer, Cambria-based ocean/water rescue team operates under the direction of the Cambria Fire Department. NCOR is funded by community donations and the Cambria Community Services District.
