They join an ever-growing lineup that includes country singer Tim McGraw, classic rock band Journey, heavy metal band Judas Priest and hip hop group Black Eyed Peas, fair officials announced Friday.
Recently crowned the Academy of Country Music’s “Entertainer of the Year,” Carrie Underwood rose to fame after winning the TV talent show “American Idol.”
Her debut album, “Some Hearts,” sold more than seven million records and netted three Grammy Awards – including “Best Country Song” for “Jesus Take the Wheel.”
Underwood released her sophomore album, “Carnival Ride,” in 2007. Popular songs include “So Small” “All-American Girl” and “Just A Dream.”
Underwood first performed at the fair in 2006. She’s one of two “American Idol” champions appearing in Paso Robles this summer; the other is Kelly Clarkson.
New to the fair is KISS, the legendary rock n’ roll band known for elaborate costumes, distinctive makeup and on-state pyrotechnics.
KISS has recorded 36 albums over 32 years and sold more than 75 million albums worldwide. Hits include “Rock and Roll All Night” “Detroit Rock City” and “Love Gun.”
Led by singer and bassist Gene Simmons, the band’s current lineup includes original member Paul Stanley on rhythm guitar, Tommy Thayer on lead guitar and Eric Singer on drums.
Carrie Underwood performs July 22 at the Paso Robles Event Center, 2198 Riverside Ave. in Paso Robles. KISS appears July 28 in Paso Robles.
Tickets for both shows are $42 to $67, and go on sale Thursday, May 21.
